The 24-hour window into Sunday morning produced the cleanest outright-market reshuffle the tournament has had. Argentina shortened from +1000 to +800 (11.00 → 9.00) after Messi’s hat-trick on Matchday 1. England cut from +700 to +550 (8.00 → 6.50) after a 4-2 over Croatia. The USA — yes, our co-host neighbour — has been steadily shortening since December and Kalshi’s prediction-market price moved from 3.9% to 5.5% after the Australia 2-0 (FOX Sports via DeFiRate, as of 2026-06-21). For Canadians watching their southern neighbour and their own +6 GD Les Rouges — and watching CAD outright boards on WinRolla and Koning.bet drift in sympathy — this is the market we use to size up Sunday’s living-room argument.

The outright board as of 2026-06-21 — France still favourite, but the chasing pack has tightened.

Where the board sits — decimal, Canadian-friendly

Selection Decimal OddsPedia cross-check
France 4.70 4.50
Spain 6.50 7.00
England 7.00 7.00
Argentina 9.00 9.00
Portugal 11.00
Brazil 13.00 13.00
Germany 13.00
Netherlands 16.00
Norway 31.00
United States 34.00

Canada is not on the board at FOX’s snapshot — they were 200/1 or longer at most outlets before the +6 GD start. Watch for an updated number after the Switzerland match on 24 Jun.

The three moves worth reading

  • Argentina 11.00 → 9.00. The Messi hat-trick equalled Klose’s all-time men’s WC scoring record (16). Argentina are unbeaten on an eight-match winning run. The 9.00 price is starting to feel short relative to the field; if you bought at 11.00 there is a hedge available in two weeks.
  • England 8.00 → 6.50. The 4-2 over Croatia was the story; under Thomas Tuchel they look offensively coherent, but the back four conceded twice. The shortening is on attack, not solidity — and Saka (Achilles), Rashford and Rice (hamstrings) are all carrying knocks ahead of Tuesday’s Ghana fixture.
  • USA → 34.00; Kalshi 3.9% → 5.5%. The exchange-market move is what to watch. A co-host on home turf with a tournament that has been kind to home soil is the standard “value or trap?” Canadian-pub argument.

Notable drift

Ecuador and Uruguay drifted (Uruguay to 100/1, Ecuador 120-1 → 200-1) on the back of underwhelming Matchday 2 results (FOX Sports / DeFiRate). Brazil at 13.00 looks soft to me: Raphinha is out for Scotland, Rodrygo and Éder Militão are out for the tournament, and the Ancelotti project has not visibly clicked. The longshot bargain hunters were on Brazil; the room cooled.

What this means for the Canadian punter

Three practical reads:

  1. Live the bracket, not the price. The outright move on Argentina is news, not a buy signal at 9.00. The clean cash-in is on bracket-side bets — Argentina to win their group at much shorter, or Argentina-to-Final at a relative-value 3.0-ish.
  2. The home-soil read on the USA is real. Five of the last eight host nations made the knockout stage from a top group; the USA’s 34.00 is not a bad +EV punt if you believe the format (eight third-place teams advancing) does its work.
  3. Watch Canada’s number after BC Place. A draw or a win against Switzerland on 24 Jun shortens Les Rouges into the realistic-longshot bracket the way the USA already has.

A small gap to note

FOX Sports’ published board lists France at 4.70; OddsPedia cross-checks at 4.50. That gap is well within market spread. Per-match 1X2 24-hour movement is not consistently published across aggregators — only the outright market moves above are confirmed.

Three-fold “Canadian-bracket” parlay walk (decimal, illustrative):
  • France advances to Final at evergreen consensus
  • Canada wins or draws vs Switzerland 24 Jun (Double Chance ~1.70)
  • Messi any time vs Austria 22 Jun (storyline tax priced in)
This is illustrative, not advice. Walk the prices at your provincial book.
**Why isn’t Canada listed on the outright board?**
Canada were 200/1 or longer at most outlets before the tournament started; FOX Sports’ published board does not include them. Their +6 GD start may move the line after the 24 Jun Switzerland match.
Are these odds available in Canadian sportsbooks? The numbers above come from FOX Sports’ published US-market sportsbook board. Canadian operators (PROLINE+, regulated Ontario operators, provincial lottery books, plus online CAD-facing books like WinRolla and Koning.bet) will publish similar lines in CAD with provincial regulations applied. Shop your book.
What does “Kalshi 3.9% to 5.5%” mean? Kalshi is a US-regulated prediction market; the percentage is the implied probability of the USA winning the tournament. The 3.9% → 5.5% move equals approximately 24/1 → 17/1 in decimal terms.
What’s the rule for the eight best third-placed teams? Per the 48-team R32 format, the top two from each of 12 groups plus the eight best third-placed teams advance to the Round of 32 (Yahoo Sports format explainer).
